About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP, Real Estate Risk Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing critical reviews of commercial appraisals, ensuring their credibility and compliance with all necessary requirements. This role involves managing the review process, contracting with and managing vendors, and participating in the review of portfolios. The VP will also be involved in leading ad hoc teams for valuation due diligence, preparing market studies, and providing market intelligence to lenders. A key aspect of the position is to resolve any issues that are not compliant with the company's policies and to advise risk managers on complex real estate issues. Applicants must be subject matter experts in commercial appraisal, with a minimum of 10 years' experience, including at least 3 years in a lending institution. A Bachelor's degree is required, and the candidate should have completed all necessary Appraisal Institute classes for the MAl designation or equivalent education. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of appraisal regulatory policies, outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of value characteristics, be highly productive and efficient as a reviewer, and be capable of making independent decisions. Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills are also essential.
