Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant, you'll be responsible for managing our clients' financial data by analyzing general ledger accounts and preparing financial statements. This role involves clear communication with clients to gather necessary data for compiling financial statements, ensuring client satisfaction, and providing timely support. You'll report to the Director of Accounting and work independently, with no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare financial statements by gathering and analyzing data from clients, accounting software, and other departments.
Record and reconcile clients' inventories each period.
Post transactions in accounting software that are not captured through the POS system.
Troubleshoot and communicate with accounting software vendors to resolve any issues regarding mapping and coding.
Import and review banking transactions, ensuring they're correctly coded in the system.
Record paid-outs, petty cash, and daily deposits for clients who don't use a POS system.
Maintain and update the cash flow tool for clients using it.
Prepare general ledger entries, maintain records, and reconcile accounts to accurately record assets, liabilities, expenses, sales, and costs.
Review profit and loss statements and balance sheets to make necessary adjustments, including accruals, depreciation, and reclassification journal entries.
Prepare, audit, and file various tax forms, including 8027s, business tax license renewals, payroll tax expenses, and other quarterly filings.
Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned clients.
Communicate with relevant agencies to resolve any outstanding issues.
Answer accounting and financial questions from clients, providing clarity on P&L statements, balance sheets, and bank data.
Work on special projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting or other leadership.

Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
High technical aptitude in automated accounting systems and data management tools.
Proficient in spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications.
Required Experience & Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least one year of experience as a General Ledger Accountant.
Experience in the restaurant industry (front-of-house, back-of-house, or management).
Candidates with 5+ years of accounting experience (without a degree) will be considered.
Comfortability working with cloud-based systems and learning new software packages.
Occasional evening/weekend work may be required, leading to overtime.
