POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner, willing to tackle all ‘Product’ related operations of an

Agile/Scrum development team within the realm of a smaller company. This is a foundational role in

growing a new Product team with the company. The perfect candidate prefers a heads down approach of

prioritizing deliverables & assets. We are looking for a ‘Get the job done’ attitude with the experience to

orchestrate the ownership of Product development across the entire product lifecycle: “roadmap”, “idea”,

“approvals”, “development”, “demos”, “launch” & back again with enhanced knowledge for “refinement”.

The role will participate in the development of novel software & digital assets, via SDLC & Agile/Scrum

with the entire department of Engineering, Architecture, Compliance, Quality & Configuration.

A mastery of documentation skills is a primary requirement for every role in the Application Development

  • Designs and prototypes.
  • User stories.
  • Company vision.

Responsibilities & Expected Skills

Architecture:

  • Creates product specifications as needed: wireframes, process workflows, state transition diagrams, acceptance test plans, user stories & acceptance criteria, & any other agile artifacts that will serve as a communication bridge between customers & the development team.
  • Be the champion of the product internally & externally, defining clear goals around customer value, & driving strategies to achieve them.
  • Learn about our customers' needs. Provide product support to internal teams & customers.
  • Be the voice of the customer inside the development team. Actively engages in user research, understands user goals & pain points & communicates your in-depth customer knowledge.
  • Lead the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users & technology.
  • Assist in the stewardship of the AppDev roadmap, while the team is smaller & perform the translation of product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, & delving into acceptance test criteria.
  • Develop, own, & execute product roadmap, as required.

Maintenance:

  • Documentation: Maintain the ever-growling library of product documentation. “Not afraid to write technically nor share assets for clarity”
  • Personal ownership of tasks & accountability to deliver on promises
  • Experienced & motivated to assess team needs in order to promote progress & growth.
  • Assist in defining the user experience for internal/external users, including support & monitoring.
  • Monitor product performance & provide feedback. Review issues & document how to reproduce them.
  • Establishes & continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal procedures & methodologies.

Agile/Scrum:

  • Defines & prioritizes the product backlog.
  • Prioritize & maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.
  • Work in an Agile environment & continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones & deliverables, & identify opportunities & risks.
  • Work with cross-functional teams & various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience, engineering, & user enablement.
  • On occasion, partner with stakeholders & users across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, & prioritization.

Development:

  • Manages the iterative lifecycle of products from conception to launch, including concept, scope, specifications, prioritization, design, implementation, testing, quality assurance & deployment.
  • Understand business needs to elaborate the product vision. Communicate the product vision, roadmap & progress to all the stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern Front-end technologies, JS frameworks, solid understanding of Agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency & security.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, automation technologies & frameworks & reporting tools
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices & other tech products.
  • Ability to diagnose & resolve basic technical issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal/OTJ training or certification on software engineering concepts & applied experience.

3+ years of professional software development exposure to web applications, including

team collaboration & code repository (GitHub).

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code

reviews, unit & integration testing, & operations experience.

4+ years of product ownership experience.

2+ years of active engagement in an Agile/Scrum team.

3+ years of experience as a Product Manager developing Web & Mobile apps or SaaS

solutions.

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
  • Proven work experience with Jira, Confluence, Roadmapping & User Story Writing.
  • Strong knowledge & experience with operational oversight & ownership of software products.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proficiency in English.
