Job Description CSI Recruiting is working with one of the country's leading upstream oil & gas firms on their immediate needs for an experienced Petroleum Landman to work in their Houston office. The Petroleum Landman will be responsible for addressing complex land matters for oil and gas exploration and production activities. Working within a multi-functional team, the Landman will manage a drilling and operations schedule or other projects that support the company's goals and objectives. The Landman's role involves the evaluation, transaction and maintenance of oil and gas leases and interests including determination of mineral and leasehold ownership. The Landman analyzes and addresses complex title issues and regulatory matters, and consults with attorneys, other land professionals, and various stakeholders to problem solve, mitigate risks, make recommendations, and improve processes. The role supports portfolio optimization by working within a commercial unit to identify and close opportunities to high-grade or expand the company's well inventory. The Landman in this position is responsible for evaluation, negotiation, drafting, interpretation, and maintenance of all commercial transactions and relevant agreements related to exploration and production activities.
LOCATION:
This role is based in Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
Requirements EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management, Business Administration, Law or related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Petroleum Landman, with current experience working within an active oil & gas operating company. Due to the nature of the role and the specific responsibilities, candidates without in-house operator experience will not be considered at this time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support of exploration and development by negotiating the disposition of leasehold and other contractual rights, including drafting agreements such as Farm Out Agreements, Exploration Agreements, and Joint Operating Agreements.
- Interpret provisions in leases, contracts, regulatory orders, and laws to assess risks and ensure accurate maintenance of Land data. Monitor all upcoming lease obligations. Provides asset and operations teams with information critical to ongoing production and development of properties.
- Support preparation and compliance of orders and permits issued by federal or other regulatory agencies.
- Advise and collaborate with Land Analysts and other internal stakeholders to maintain lease records and land data systems.
- Coordinate the collection and evaluation of land, commercial, and regulatory data from internal and external sources. Coordinate the acquisition of and review title ownership and cures title deficiencies brought forth within title opinions.
- Organize and complete multiple concurrent land projects, prioritize deadlines, and communicate effectively, demonstrating autonomy in decision-making and providing strategic technical recommendations to leadership.
- Field inquiries from mineral and working interest owners. Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and influences at all levels. Maintain and foster public and community relations that demonstrate excellent corporate stewardship and integrity.
- Possess and apply advanced knowledge to drive completion of significant land projects, providing innovative land management solutions leveraging diverse expertise, technical land management knowledge, technology/software capabilities, and business acumen to identify opportunities, recognize issues, resolve problems, and make recommendations to achieve objectives. Lead concurrent efforts and mentors team members, providing direction, development, and guidance.
- Support efforts to analyze and interpret legal and regulatory changes and provide strategic insights into market trends and potential impacts on land assets.
- Identify commercial opportunities, confirm viability, lead commercial negotiations and draft agreements for the acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas leases and interests
