POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Farm Assistant
Reports to: Direct Supervision: Farm Director
Wage Category: Part-time Hourly (20-30 hours per week)
Supervises: Programming Staff, Volunteers, and other collaborating entities
as directed by the Farm Director/CEO.
JOB STATEMENT Under the direction of the Farm Director, the Farm Assistant is responsible for the collaboration of planning, organizing, directing and performing the activities related to the farm. The Farm Assistant is responsible for the collaboration of repairs, maintenance, improvements, cleaning, grounds keeping, supervision of volunteer groups and collaboration with other departments and outside entities that may use the facilities as directed by the Farmer Director/CEO to support programming. The Farm Assistant will also collaborate in the management of the camp animals feeding and housing. Day-to-day work should be conducted professionally with a high commitment to safety, making the most effective and efficient use of skills, facilities, and equipment and the resources available. These responsibilities are conducted according to the organization’s policies, procedures, and all local/state/federal regulations and laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS YEAR-ROUND (20-30 hours per week)
8. Collaborates with the Farm Director on working with program and other staff to develop and manage a farm master plan and in conjunction with the full staff on development of resulting short- and long-range project plans and capital improvements.
9. Collaborates with the Farm Director on plans, budgets and implements farm projects and improvements based on the site plan.
10. Collaborates with the Farm Director to maintain and balance annual farm budget.
11. In collaboration with the Farm Director, orients, trains, and supervises working volunteers (individuals or groups) as assigned and handles related logistics. Maintains log of volunteer activities, work hours and contact information. Works with the Farm Director to coordinate volunteers.
12. In collaboration with the Farm Director, maintains a work order system that tracks time spent on the various maintenance activities with set deadlines for those activities.

1. Indoor and outdoor work environment.
2. Must be willing to learn, get dirty, get wet, be hot and cold as we work in all seasons, weather and environments. Some greenhouse work is done in the summer.
