What Does an Accounts Receivable Manager Do? Under the supervision of the Staff Accountant, the Accounts Receivable Manager receives and maintains all accounts receivable in our operating system.
- Utilize various communication channels, such as phone calls, emails, and letters, to follow up with members and collect outstanding payments (i.e. dues and donations) in a confidential manner
- Enter and process third party payments and reconcile to member and organization accounts
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure that payments are correctly applied and received in a timely fashion
- Generate financial reports related to accounts receivable, including aging reports, cash collections, and bad debt analysis and work with staff to update billing information and collect past due balances
- Communicate and coordinate with branch staff on membership and operating procedures
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing reconciliations and reports for management and stakeholders
- Posts customer payments by recording cash, check, and credit card transactions
- Communicate to collection agencies and chargeback centers to ensure accuracy with members disputing charges, send to collections, or those removed from collections
- File appropriate documentation and maintain accounts receivable files
- Work with members and staff to resolve account discrepancies
- Balance Account Receivable General Ledger at month end
- Enter journal entries and reviews edit reports
Qualifications - Must be at least 18 years old
- Associate's degree (Accounting or Finance preferred); related work experience may offset degree requirement
- 2+ years' experience in related work preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and ability to quickly learn new systems
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
- Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
